February
Athlete of the Month
|
|
When
asked to describe Sean Rhodes, Director of Training Leonard Russell and
Performance Director Gary Heron both used one word - unique.
From his approach to training to his opinions about the
guys training him, Rhodes - Adrenaline Athletic Training's February
Athlete of the Month - is in a class all his own. Unequaled in his
passion for training, Rhodes makes every day of training a
once-in-a-lifetime event.
When asked what he liked about Adrenaline Athletic
Training, Rhodes quickly responded in jest, "Not Gary! He's Gary,
WHO likes Gary?!"
Actually, Rhodes must either REALLY like Performance
Director Gary Heron, or he just likes how much Heron pushes the
athletes here at Adrenaline. Either way Heron said he enjoys Rhodes'
positive, fun-loving attitude.
"He's very easy going and takes instruction very
well," Heron said. "He's a good kid to have around and keep
the class loose.
"You know, if he ran as fast as he talked, he'd
definitely be destined for the National Football League," a
tongue-in-cheek Heron added. "Gotcha Sean!"
Rhodes' laid back approach to training hasn't hindered his
improvement any. He attended Adrenaline's junior varsity class 13 times
in February and during recent testing, Rhodes improved in four of five
events, including a 4.95-sec., 20-yard shuttle (a .48-second
improvement) and a 5.31 40-yard dash (a .20-second improvement).
An eighth grader at Moore Middle School in Redlands,
Rhodes said he loves football and started attending Adrenaline Athletic
Training in December in preparation for his freshamn season at Redlands
East Valley.
"It's hard work, but if its going to help me when I
get to REV, it'll be worth it," Rhodes said
From the staff at Adrenaline, congratulations on your
award! Keep up the hard work and.....please pull, don't push.

Hitting Fundamentals with Bryan Kennedy
|
|
If your looking to tune up your swing for the
2009 baseball season, one of the Inland Empire's premier hitting
instructors will be holding a three-hour instructional clinic the last
three weeks in March.
A graduate of John W. North High School in Riverside and
Long Beach State University, Kennedy was drafted by the Minnesota Twins
in 2001 where he played four years in the Twins organization.
Kennedy, who grew up a coach's son, played at Long Beach
State for legendary coach Dave Snow. The original "Dirt
Bag" at Long Beach State, Snow compiled a .638 winning percentage
en route to four College World Series appearances.
Kennedy takes much of what he's learned from some of the
game's great teachers and translates it for the modern baseball player.
Clinics will be held on March 15th, 22nd and 29th from 11
a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $75 per three-hour clinic. Clinics are for
players 9-and-up.
Kennedy will cover the "Five Elements of
Hitting", including middle/off field hitting, how to pull the ball
properly, situational hitting, power development and the bunting game.
